Costa Teguise: A strategic starting point

From here, you can easily access a variety of routes that pass through some of the island’s most iconic landscapes. Costa Teguise’s location allows cyclists to explore both coastal and inland areas, discovering the rich diversity of scenery Lanzarote has to offer.
Route to Arrecife and El Golfo
One of the most accessible routes from Costa Teguise is the one that leads to Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, and continues to El Golfo, a picturesque town known for its green lagoon and rock formations of volcanic origin. This route, approximately 60 kilometers round trip, is ideal for those looking for a moderate challenge. Starting from Costa Teguise, take the LZ-18 road that leads to Arrecife. From there, you can follow the LZ-2 southwards, passing through the impressive area of La Geria, famous for its vineyards grown in volcanic ash.
Route to Teguise and Haría
For cyclists looking for a more demanding challenge, the route from Costa Teguise to Haría is a perfect option. This approximately 80-kilometer round trip ride takes riders through some of the most dramatic landscapes on the island. Leaving Costa Teguise, follow the LZ-10 road towards Teguise, the former capital of Lanzarote. From here, the ascent begins towards the town of Haría, located in the so-called “Valley of a Thousand Palm Trees”. The climb through the winding mountain roads offers panoramic views of the island and the Atlantic Ocean, rewarding the effort with one of the best cycling experiences in Lanzarote.
Route to Órzola and the Jameos del Agua
Another notable route is the one that goes from Costa Teguise to Órzola, at the northern end of the island. This route, approximately 70 kilometers round trip, allows cyclists to explore the northern coast of Lanzarote and visit some of the most emblematic places on the island, such as the Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes. Starting from Costa Teguise, take the LZ-1 highway towards Guatiza, passing by the Cactus Garden, one of the masterpieces of the artist César Manrique. Continuing north, you reach Órzola, where you can enjoy a stunning view of La Graciosa, the small neighboring island.
